Influenced by Richard Galliano (inventor of the New Musette and great jazz accordionist), Django Reinhardt (the greatest gypsy musician), François Marcaurelle (Montreal jazz pianist, founder of the Off Jazz Festival) and Jean-Luc Ponty (French jazz violinist), Martin Bellemare writes jazz pieces that stand out for their freshness and richness !
From the Printemps des Bretelles (accordion festival in Montreal and Saguenay) to the Dièse Onze Jazz Club (famous jazz club) in Montreal and the Festival International d’accordéon de Montmagny, the trio regularly performs on the Quebec stage. In May 2017, he released his first album, Appellation Musette Nouveau, with twelve compositions by Martin, warmly praised by the media.
On stage, the trio offers a list of Martin’s compositions and covers of jazz, manouche, musette and instrumental songs (Galliano, Nougaro and Brubeck, Aznavour). This tasty mix of themes, inventive improvisations and amazing musical complicities between the three musicians makes the Trio Martin Bellemare a wonderful ensemble to see and hear!
