Christine Tassan Trio

Gypsy jazz - compositions and standards

Christine Tassan, an experienced guitarist, has been playing in the manouche jazz world for over 20 years. One of the few female solo guitarists in this style, she became known through her band, Christine Tassan and Les Imposteures, touring in Quebec, Canada, Europe and China.

In 2014, she decided to create a new instrumental trio, inviting Olivier Babaz, a creative double bassist and sought-after accompanist, and Lise-Anne Ross, an outstanding rhythmic guitarist.

Gathered around gypsy jazz, the trio pushes the boundaries of this style by integrating multiple influences (latin, blues, world music) and fully exploiting the instruments including in an unusual way. Mostly composed of compositions by Christine Tassan, the repertoire also honours some standards of gypsy jazz and songs performed here instrumentally, all punctuated with anecdotes allowing an audience of all ages to discover this festive and dynamic style.

The trio put the focus on improvisations, virtuosity and creativity of the three musicians who will carry you in their musical passion. It swings, it’s original and it moves!
